This Course
This semester has been a bit of a roller coaster. I was trying to cram in too much content into too short period of time. I would love to have more of it to read all there was to read for this course as a lot of these materials have opened my eyes to many new ideas. And I haven’t kept them to myself. I have been spreading the idea of MOOCs amongst my friends and will pick one to participate in this summer. Not to mention I would love to collaborate on one myself.
This course made me re-think how I would create a course of my own or how I could adapt one that already exists. I have already started opening more to internet and collaboration in my German, Spanish and Swedish projects. I have realized I was merely a visitor in the collaborative online world and plan to change it.
Technology
Having been educated mainly without technology – VHS and overhead projector were the the peak of sophistication – I must admit I was nervous about letting internet fully in. I wasn’t sure how to do it and I didn’t see the advantages. I think I do now. Some ideas for new apps and/or platforms that could help not just students but researchers in linguistics in general have been on my mind for a while now. The only thing I need is the find the right people and the right environment for the collaboration 🙂 . Let me know if you know someone who would be interested!
As I have mentioned in my presentation, small things like Padlet and other little apps area already finding a way into my life. And now I’m also on a quest to find new ones.
