Listening to the Voices of the Digital Age
Hi, this is Anita

Hi, this is Anita

Hello and welcome to our blog. My name is Anita, a Ghanaian currently living in Sweden.

My interest and curiosity about humanitarianism and aid work have grown over the years. I have been working actively as a member of Rotary International, one of the largest humanitarian service organizations, for 10 years. Over the course of these years, I have been involved in the organisation and implementation of humanitarian projects, mainly within West Africa, covering the organisations main areas of focus which are:

  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development

In my experience, humanitarian and aid work is an important service to humanity and a unique way of bridging gaps and fostering peace amongst nations across the world. However, aid work poses certain challenges which could be addressed by adopting innovative ways of communicating humanitarianism and aid work. In collaboration with my colleagues, I look forward to examining aid work and its unintended consequences as a result of digital humanitarianism. Through my blog posts, I hope to provide an avenue for open discussions on the impact of technology on aid work and the misrepresentations of communities in digital humanitarian narratives.
