Or thought of the consequences on human labour every time you interact with Artificial Intelligence? Have you wondered how your everyday interactions with technology are shaped by global power structures? In an era where technology shapes every aspect of our lives, our goal is to take a step back and consider the systems and underlying dynamics that make it all possible\u2014often at a high cost to workers, marginalised communities, and, of course, our planet.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Artificial Inequality\u2019 is a blog that explores how digital labour and technology influence global political and economic systems, climate change, sustainability, and global migration.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our objective is to illuminate the neglected aspects that make the advancement of technology possible, such as modern slavery and its inherent power dynamics; how aid and development are often influenced by geopolitical agendas and by the economies of donor nations; as well as how these dynamics ripple into realities of contemporary migration, democracy, and development.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, we will examine the effects of platform capitalism, demonstrating its role in generating novel kinds of exploitation, and in the commodification of labour. Our central themes are:<\/span><\/p>\n
