Hi, I\u2019m FI, Palestinian-Danish.<\/p>\n

In a world where identity is often weaponized, I choose to remain anonymous\u2014not out of fear, but to protect the integrity of open discourse. As a Palestinian, I have seen how identity can silence voices. Anonymity allows me to speak freely, with ideas judged on their merits rather than who I am.<\/p>\n

Over the years, I have worked in a range of different fields from journalism to managing media NGOs targeting minorities and vulnerable communities, with a focus on advocacy, communications and development policy. My experience spans everything from opinion writing and TV content production to managing international projects that challenge the status quo.<\/p>\n

In this space, I want to dig into some critical issues that are often overlooked or do not take its true and fair weight\u2013 like the global power dynamics behind development aid and how it is used. It is no secret that many Western countries often use aid as more than just a way to help; it becomes a tool of influence that shapes the politics of the countries they “support”. So the big question is how do we regain our agency in these systems? How do we ensure that international aid is transparent, decolonised and genuinely driven by the people it is meant to serve?<\/p>\n

Another issue I\u2019m really interested in is how the media shapes our view of development. Whether we notice it or not, in the case of many Western media outlets, there is a Western dominance of the global conversation, often drowning out local voices and shaping narratives that are far from the full picture. I want to engage with the current debate and discuss ways to decolonize the way we communicate and make room for perspectives that have been ignored or marginalized for too long.<\/p>\n
