SoDaDev does not run actual social media accounts.
On purpose.
We have come to this conclusion, since social media accounts are not environmentally friendly, particularly due to carbon footprint implications. Additionally we recognize the negative effects social media has on our mental well-being. As our blog has an approaching expiration date, running accounts that will not continue to “live” seems unethical and pointless to us. Instead we opted for a social media simulation of our activities. Through the means of a Twitter generator, we created non-existing tweets and thus have not promoted our blog this way. Prioritizing other ways of promoting our blog, such as face-to-face conversations with friends and family and inviting the other groups to visit the SoDaDev blog, we believe we have made up for it.
In our design and posting we reflected critically on the ways we consume news, create visuals, go about our data, social media and digital habits, the relulation of content of social media, with the aim to spur conversation around social media, data and development.
