People. Technology. Human rights.
Good bye, thank you!

Good bye, thank you!

Nothing lasts forever!

We are now closing down our blog ActDigital. It has indeed been a fun and educational experience for us. The six of us have been working online across vast geographical distance to make this blog happen. We hope you have enjoyed reading our posts and following us on our social media channels. Through the blog and the twitter account, we explored topics to spark debates with you and we posed questions to you to create engagement. Were you intrigued?

What have we done?

We chose to focus on how new media is shaping contemporary activism, its risks and benefits. We narrowed it down to women’s rights and feminist activism. In this regard, we were moved by the ongoing protests against the regime in Iran. We were also fascinated by the role new media is playing in facilitating protests and raising awareness of the ongoing situation beyond Iran’s borders, despite the regime’s attempts to shut down internet. This event guided some of our posts, although we kept to our broader topic to avoid difficulties with the ethics of providing analysis from a position abroad with imperfect information.

How did we chose to get it done?

As you know, for our identities on the blog, we chose to use pseudonyms, taking inspiration from female activists throughout history. Using these fictitious names provided us with flexibility to explore topics and approaches that may not align with our regular online and offline lives.

We hope, during this short time, that we have made a positive contribution to the world of communications, social change and female activism. Please, let us know what you think about our blog adventure, content, accessibility, user-friendliness and more.

What now? What shall you do?

Despite the fact that we are closing down, we hope that you will keep the discussions about new media and activism alive and share your reflections, experiences, ideas, and questions with other feminist activists. We know we are not the only ones. There are many other blogs and platforms where change is happening. We urge you to seek them out, find a suitable platform and engage. Be part of the change and don’t forget to do your part!

See you later!//
