Signing off…

We hope that with this blog, we have inspired you to think critically about big data.

Our purpose with each post was to provoke you to consider the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in development, humanitarian and public health contexts. Hopefully, we made you, our readers, more aware of the gray areas and prompted discussion on the enormous potential of information technology to do good but also its potential to do harm. By presenting both sides, and everything in between, we aspired to in one way or another influence the way you think about data, collect data or use data.

As bloggers, we definitely learned a lot through writing this and have tried as much as possible to present both sides, raise important issues and question things we were unsure about. Through our blog, we challenged ourselves to think through the issues, to question our biases, and to try and see the world through the eyes of others.

Referring to the name of our blog, we can conclude that Big data is certainly a friend in certain aspects, and definitely a foe in others.
