With the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Summit (September 18-19, 2023) in New York, the Agenda 2030 has reached a critical point in its implementation. At the Summit, the 17 Global Goals will be reviewed and world leaders are expected to discuss ways to accelerate efforts to reach the SDGs. Today, we have less than 7 years to reach the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. <\/p>\n\n\n

Official reports and studies point out that we are falling behind and are not likely to meet the ambition targets that were set. The blog will focus on the UN SDG campaign and how other actors are using information and communication technologies to advance socio-economic development, especially in middle- and low-income countries. We take a closer look at how the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda campaign are driven by a wide range of communications strategies, technologies and applications, including mobile devices, the internet, social media and other new media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet the team behind the blog! <\/strong>We are all students of Communication for Development at Malmo University, Sweden. We will be using an alias while publishing blog articles. These include: IB, RLC, CPH, WW, and AC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • AC<\/strong> has over 5 years of experience working within the human rights and development sector. She is passionate about using research and strategic partnerships to protect, promote and advance human rights. On a more personal level, AC loves hiking and painting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    • CPH<\/strong> is a communications professional with a focus on international development. She has over 5 years of experience working in communications teams for international organisations and NGO\u2019s across Europe and South Asia. She is also a passionate photographer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      • IB<\/strong> is a former journalist, now communications professional. She has experience of working with various aspects of communication within aid and development agencies \u2013 from fundraising, to crisis communication, to advocacy. Passionate about climate justice and spending time in nature. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        • RLC <\/strong>is an international development professional, who is currently working on advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. A former international civil servant, he has worked as communications and programme director for international organisations focused on the implementation of SDG 16, particularly democracy, human rights and the rule of law. During his spare time, he dances hip hop, jazz and salsa, as well as practices yoga.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          • WW<\/strong> is a Communication for Development student at Malm\u00f6 University. She is working as a content creator for different companies. She is also responsible for tracking engagement and outreach in social media. In the future she wants to work in international organisations with a main focus on improving the quality of life and education for children.
