Through our various posts, we will explore the dynamic relationship between local and global activism and the use of digital tools. We will dive deeper into different aspects of online and offline activism, new media and technology as a tool of activism and protest and look further at common debates around the digital divide, algorithm bias and censorship, among others. We will also look at how technology can lead to negative social impacts hindering long-term development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Meet our team<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Hello, my name is Janet and I am a student of ComDev masters programme and I work in the international environment in the area of climate change. I am excited to delve into the intersection of technology and climate activism. In particular, I will focus on how communities are using the power of technology to amplify their voices and drive meaningful social change towards a more equitable and sustainable future. &#8211; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wpmu.mau.se\/nmict23group5\/author\/an2349\/\">Janet<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Hi, I\u2019m Julia, a Master\u2019s student in the ComDev programme at Malm\u00f6 University. Besides my studies, I work as a Communication and Marketing Manager for an EdTech Company that promotes inclusive education and equal opportunities in a digital context. Here, on the blog &#8220;Is anybody listening&#8221;, I want to dive deeper on topics like online activism with an emphasis on # activism and investigate the role of digital media in promoting sustainable development. I am a journalist interested in global development concerns, especially global politics and relations between the south and north.<br>I shall focus on right-wing activism in the global north, online media platforms as alternative media and a target for repressive regimes in the global south. &#8211; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wpmu.mau.se\/nmict23group5\/author\/al9973\/\">Markel<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Hi all! I\u2019m Mila, an anthropologist from the Netherlands, and here\u2019s three things about me: I can\u2019t sit on a chair longer than 5 minutes, I talk a lot while I\u2019m asleep, and I\u2019m probably the world\u2019s biggest food lover. I\u2019m a ComDev student and at the same time, I work in a shelter for minor refugees, which allows me to explore the academic world behind development, and to directly apply the things we learn into practice at work. In my blogs, I will take a closer look at both local and global movements that use (digital) forms of art as a tool for social change and explain why we need both top-down as well as bottom-up approaches in order to make change happen. &#8211; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wpmu.mau.se\/nmict23group5\/author\/an4260\/\">Mila<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Hi. I\u2019m Phil, and I\u2019m living between Europe and Asia. My work as a video producer\/consultant in the development and humanitarian sectors has often put me on the spot between local organizations and international clients. Unfortunately, too often, international agencies and donors dominate communication processes, including video productions. Addressing this issue and elevating the role of local actors and communities interests me. &#8211; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wpmu.mau.se\/nmict23group5\/author\/an5933\/\">Phil<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p>In times when positive social change is urgently needed, we aim to share with you an exploration of local-to-global activism through technology and how it serves individuals and communities to be heard, drive social change and inspire a more sustainable future for all.
