From Concept to Creation – A Malmö University Brochure

The brochure created by Hannah Zejnic and Beatrice Toreborg for Malmö University aims to inform and inspire potential students in the field of comic art. The brochure is intended to be distributed at the Stockholm International Comics Festival and targets a wide audience, including recent high school graduates. The creative side of Malmö University, including the Malmö University Comics Hub and K3, is the sender of the brochure. The goal is to expand the university’s image and attract creative individuals.

The brochures have been designed using risograph printing, which limits the color options. Our main brochure uses red and dark blue, which are iconic colors for Malmö University and are also present in the university’s graphic manual. The other two brochures also include the red color but are mixed with green and light blue.

An important aspect that Hannah and Bea considered was to make the brochure interactive and entertaining. By using foldable pages, they wanted the reader to discover that there are additional parts of the brochure that can be unfolded as they browse through it. At the same time, it was crucial for the pages to look good both when folded and when fully expanded.

Finally, they chose to use risograph printing to create the brochure, which provides a unique aesthetic. The riso technique resembles a combination of traditional screen printing and photocopier, giving the brochure a distinct visual style and texture.
