About us

Welcome to the Development Spotlight blog!

We are five Masters students currently studying Communication for Development at Malmö University in Sweden, and created this blog as part of our programme.

We are located all over the world including Italy, Sweden, and the United States. We are practitioners in the field of ComDev and/ or have a close relationship with the field. We hope to to share our insights, knowledge and points of discussion to start lively discussions with you, our colleagues.

Raffaella Ronzi

Raffaella has a background in foreign languages, international relations and digital communication. She is now attending the ComDev master’s program at Malmö University in Sweden. She speaks six languages and has mostly worked in the education sector in Italy, Brazil, Turkey and online. She is now a communication assistant for a couple of international organizations. She is passionate about ICT4D, human rights and the impact and implications of aid work.

 

 

Alessandro Bosco

Alessandro has a background in political science and European studies from Zuyd University Maastricht and international experience in the training and adult learning fields. In addition to attending a Master in Communication for Development at Malmo University, he is currently working as project manager in an NGO located in Sicily, Italy, which acts through projects in the educational field carried out in cooperation with schools, universities, institutions, associations and social groups both at local and international level.

 

 

Katharina Hribernigg

Katharina Hribernigg has a background in international business and SME development. The development field has always interested her. She interned with UN Women, volunteered at Caritas and is Goodwill ambassador for the Cameroon Association for Active Youths. She has also worked as an entrepreneur aiming to preserve cultural heritage in textiles. She is currently studying Communication for Development at Malmö University.

 

Cara-Marie Findlay

Originally from Jamaica, Cara-Marie’s work as an independent consultant led her to the field of Development.  Cara-Marie is most interested in the decolonisation, the intersection of knowledge and practice, the production of knowledge, and the levers of power of Development. In addition to her studies at Malmö University, Cara-Marie is the Principal Consultant at an International and Community Development consulting firm.

 

Cecilia E

Cecilia has a background in gender studies, international relations and political science, and several years of experience in programme management and development in Sweden and globally, mainly in Latin America. She is currently undertaking an additional Master’s degree in ComDev, on the side of her position as a Research Coordinator in the field of global health transformation. She is passionate about postcolonial perspectives on gender and development practice and will reflect on this further in this blog.
