Produced by Mona Bakly and Sarah Engdahl.

We produced a promotional animation for Yeu Bake Shop, a café located in Stockholm. When we first found the café on Instagram, it was temporarily closed, but we got very inspired by the atmosphere that was depicted from the pictures. The pastries and drinks were very dream-like, which drove us to make an advertisment of it. We thought it could be used as a teaser for the café’s reopening.
Our advertisment aims to provide a visual experience of Yeu Bake Shop. It is an animation that highlights the ‘slow living’ element, which represents the vibe of Yeu Bake Shop. ‘Slow living’ is a lifestyle that encourages a slower approach to aspects of everyday life, which means performing tasks at a leisurely pace. Visually, ‘slow living’ reminded us of Studio Ghibli’s storytelling style and art style.
Therefore, we thought that the target audience would be from teenagers up to young adults who longed for a relaxing environment with some sweet treats. We think it will also draw the attention of anime and Ghibli enthusiasts.
When we started illustrating, we kept ‘slow living’ and Studio Ghibli style in mind. So we maintained detailed illustrations to emphasize the romanticization of everyday life. Other than that, we chose the pastel colors to signify the serenity as well as letting the animation run in a calm tempo.
Hope you’ll be craving for some sweet treats after watching our animation! ☺️
