This media project is based on Fanny and Sanne’s bachelor thesis about the TV-show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s use of satire in the episode “A Woman’s Right to Chop” and how it is understood by its audience. The use of satire in the episode was studied through a text analysis and the audience reception was conducted by interviews. One of the findings in the study was that the older individuals had more difficulty understanding satire and its underlying messages in the episode. Therefore, we have created a light-hearted guide for “Boomers” to understand satire.
